So, the 1-1-1-1 event was underway! Each person brought 1 caster/lock, jack/beast, solo, and unit. The scenario was always assassination! My list:
Deneghra
Nightmare
General Gerlak Slaughterborn
9 Bloodgorgers
Now I understand that Bloodgorgers are not necessarily the best choice in this format, since there won’t be that many living models to generate blood tokens from, but even 2 gets me a 4+ tough, and that would be fun in itself. On the occasion that I DO face a lot of living troops, the unit would become rather good.
Round 1 was versus Joe Jones, whom I played in the 4th round of the WM 750 tourney on Friday who beat me with his ‘eyeless sighted’ butcher ;)
His list:
Butcher
Behemoth
The Great Bears
Eiryss
He got the first turn, and I preyed on Eiryss. He rolled up, and tried to disruptor Nightmare, but missed due to Stealth. He cast Fury on the Great Bears, and the rest ran.
I finished off Eiryss with 1 boosted attack roll, and then cast Death Rage on Deneghra. My army also advanced.
He rushed up again, upkeeping Fury and giving 3 to the Behemoth for its bombards. He killed 2 Bloodgorgers, but he was in trouble, as my new Prey was the Butcher. He cast Iron Flesh on the Butcher.
Deneghra feated. I crippling grasped the Great Bears, and the Nightmare slammed the Behemoth through the Butcher. No damage. Still, he was down stats, and hopefully would not kill Nightmare. Slaughterborn advanced, and the Bloodgorgers set up to hit the Bears next turn, who were not going to be able to get away.
Well, the Butcher stood up, and broke both of Nightmare’s arms. Doh! He dropped both his upkeeps, so that he could have all 4 focus. Thankfully, due to my feat, he spent all his focus to do so. The Behemoth had no luck with its shots, and the Great Bears strained forward 2 inches, not able to reach anything.
Finally, this was the kill turn, but Nightmare had no arms. Ok, I can manage something. 2 focus to Nightmare, 4 on Deneghra after the Death Rage upkeep. The Nightmare headbutted Butcher onto his butt, and did a point of damage, too, thanks to Tusks and Death Tracker. Deneghra charged into the Butcher, and smacked him for 3 damage. I Parasited him, and bought another attack, doing 5 more damage. Okay, he’s got 11 damage left at ARM 15. This looks like a job for Slaughterborn!
General Slaughterborn lets out a bloodcurdling roar, and charges the downed maniac, generating 2 flying steel attacks. His charge damage roll was a 17, putting the Butcher out of his misery in just one swing. Vps didn’t matter in this event, or the Great Bears would have been taking a charge from the Bloodgorgers.
The army gets put up, and we wait for the next round!
